How our partnership began

When we first started working with Square10 they were an 8-people business looking to add a business-critical hire to their team which would enable them to diversify and evolve their service offering. They had been looking for the right candidate for their Cloud Systems Engineer position for a while when they decided to engage us.

They were reluctant to engage with a recruitment firm as they had made questionable experiences in the past, however, our Boston team lead, Ben Makepeace strongly believed that our values and approach very much aligned and convinced them to give our services a try.

The Challenge

In the ever-changing technology space Square10 was looking for a critical hire that would enable them to deliver to their clients’ fast-evolving requirements within the Cloud Computing space. 

Client Services

They had been looking for the right candidate for their Cloud Systems Engineer position for a while when they decided to engage us.
What were the challenges with filling this vacancy?

  • Senior talent within the Managed Service Provider space needs versatile skill sets ranging from broad, yet in-depth, technology expertise and customer-facing soft skills to leadership and management skills.
  • The position was based in New York but needed to travel to clients across New York and the tristate area.
How we helped

Partnering with Square10 Solutions

As with all of our partners, we took the time to understand Square10, its goals, and challenges. In this case, we invested time on an in-depth discovery call with the Principal of Square10 that lasted nearly 2 hours and covered overall long- and short-term business goals and challenges before discussing the vacant position in detail. 

We advertised the vacant position through different channels such as our specialized website, LinkedIn, and Dice, an IT specialist job board in the US. Additionally, we utilized our global talent database of over 150k IT experts and proactive executive search techniques. Our resourcing teams were able to deliver the first profiles within days of registering the vacancy. 

In total, we introduced 9 viable candidates for the position to Square10. Out of those candidates, 6 were invited to first interview stage, 3 progressed to second interview stage, and 1 to final interview stage. Square10 decided to offer our final stage candidate who was happy to accept, and is now their Cloud Systems Engineer for more than 3 years.

The Result

When we first approached the later successful candidate, an initial conversation revealed his strong desire for exposure to cloud environments as well as a broader technology range. Since MSP environments are the ideal place to get exposure to diverse technological environments it already seemed like a perfect match, making this hire an all-round win-win. 

The strategic hire has allowed Square10 to diversify its service and solutions portfolio and expand its cloud migration services. This enabled them to deliver to their clients' evolving needs and to stay one of the top MSPs for the professional services industry within the tri-state area and New England.
