System Engineer - AI
Overview
• Our client is a professional services organisation seeking an experienced AI & Systems Engineer to support enterprise IT systems and AI-enabled tools.
• This role combines hands-on systems engineering with an interest in applying AI to improve business workflows.
Responsibilities
• Support the evaluation, integration, deployment, and operation of AI-powered systems
• Deploy and maintain applications supporting professional workflows
• Design, build, and support IT solutions across cloud and on-premises environments
• Support enterprise infrastructure, applications, and general systems maintenance
• Work with IT leadership on infrastructure service delivery, including service design, operations, and continuous
Improvement
• Help develop and maintain technology strategies, policies, and standards
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing
• Collect and analyse system metrics to identify and implement improvements
• Partner with architecture, operations, and other teams to improve IT processes, performance, and security
• Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and operational issues
• Research and evaluate new technologies and recommend efficiency improvements
• Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule
Requirements
• 5 or more years of experience supporting business-critical IT systems in a professional services or enterprise environment
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field preferred
• Experience with or strong interest in AI-powered tools and large language models
• Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create effective LLM prompts for professional use cases
• Experience with REST APIs, SDKs, and SQL-based integrations
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting or programming languages; ML experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with technologies such as Active Directory, Windows and Linux, Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualisation platforms, databases, backup systems, and automation tools
• Strong knowledge of cloud services, networking, virtualisation, and on-premises infrastructure
• Proven ability to analyse and solve complex technical problems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
