Linux Manager

My client is an established retail organization who are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Team Manager to join their dynamic IT department. The Linux Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of Linux Administrators and Python programmers, ensuring the smooth operation of the Linux infrastructure, and driving project success.

This position requires strong technical expertise, effective leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of performance and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage a team of Linux Administrators and Python programmers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to drive their professional growth and maximize their productivity.
- Plan and scope small projects, ensuring clear objectives, timelines, and deliverables are established and communicated effectively to the team.
- Prioritize and monitor the team's workload, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and within defined quality standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to company policies, as well as industry regulations such as SOX, PCI, and HIPAA, to maintain data security and compliance.
- Proactively address technical debt, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to reduce complexity and enhance system efficiency.
- Resolve escalated issues and ensure that tickets and incidents are addressed promptly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and disruptions to operations.
- Foster strong relationships with other IT teams, collaborating and coordinating efforts to achieve shared objectives and optimize cross-functional workflows.
- Evaluate team performance, providing constructive feedback and coaching to enhance individual and collective capabilities.
- Cultivate a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team, promoting knowledge-sharing and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

- A self-motivated professional with proven experience effectively reading or managing engineers, demonstrating exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Possesses a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent IT work experience, showcasing a strong foundation in relevant technical concepts.
- Extensive enterprise experience in Linux administration, including proficiency in bash shell development, Python programming, Git version control, Ansible automation, and server virtualization using VMWare.
- Ideally 3+ years of management/leadership experience, highlighting successful leadership in a fast-paced IT environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build positive relationships.
- Demonstrates a commitment to excellence, consistently striving for high performance and quality outcomes.

Must be open to a hybrid-work arrangement - 1 day per week in office.
