My client is looking for a 2nd Line Support Technician that will initially specialise in phone systems.
This a new role, created to fill a niche that our client currently has and it will expand over time into other areas.
You will provide effective IT escalation point across all areas of the business in respect of general telephony support and infrastructure. The position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the existing ISDN / PSTN voice network and the emerging VoIP provision. The position provides exposure to a broad range of Telephony related projects and activities.
Our client has a combination of Mitel / Avaya and Panasonic systems – prior experience with telephony systems is not essential as training will be provided, however this is a largely administrative role and a large portion of your time will be spent problem solving call issues with suppliers.
Over time the role will transform from supporting the traditional systems (ISDN / PSTN) to a fully VoIP backend.
You may be asked to get involved in other areas as the need arises, allowing for a diverse range of technical skills to be developed in other areas.
You will be familiar with flowcharting software (for drawing call routing diagrams), adaptable, have good problem solving skills and an excellent telephone manner as you will spend a lot of time talking to staff / managers / directors and suppliers.
After successful completion of a 6 month probation period – you will undertake the ITIL Foundation course (If you don’t already have the certification) and on completion, will be offered further certified training (dependent upon skills).
You will be able to further develop into a VoIP Engineer (Doing the CCNA & CCVP) or move into more generalised support role (MCSA Windows Server 2016 or MCSA Cloud Platform) after at least 12 months in the role.
Candidates must note the following when applying:
The role will be largely administrative, there will be a lot of documentation (mostly electronic) to create and maintain.
You will be working as part of a team, but will become the specialist in this area.
You may occasionally (only after the 6 month probation period is complete) be required to travel to sites to carry out training or testing.
Your standard of spoken and written English must be high.
Must be very confident on the phone.
