2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer

A unique opportunity has arisen for a 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer within one of London’s most elite hedge funds. Due to expansion, the hedge fund are looking for a 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer to bolster their IT team in a broad role which will involve desktop and infrastructure support as well as excellent exposure to projects – a fantastic chance for a bright and ambitious IT Support Engineer to broaden their technical exposure in an all-round IT role.

The successful 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer will gain exposure to all aspects of the hedge fund’s IT estate, including desktops, servers, network, security, storage etc. and will be involved in managing and maintaining all of these. There will be many opportunities for learning and getting exposure to new technologies with a company who truly invest in both technology and employees. They provide a comprehensive, hands on training scheme for engineers who show the right attitude and aptitude, and always look to promote internally.

With a relatively small user-base user base, the successful 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer will have plenty of time to work on backend infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades. The environment is incredibly dynamic and very high-energy, which requires an engineer with exceptional communication skills and a good personality fit for such a fast-paced environment.

Technical Requirements:

Windows 10
Office 365 & MS Office products
Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, Exchange etc.
Networking knowledge – TCP/IP, switching
Hyper-V OR VMware
Trade floor applications are a bonus – Bloomberg, Fidessa etc.

Personal requirements:

Proven IT Support experience
Ability to work independently or as part of a team when necessary
Passion for technology, and a desire to learn
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to provide high quality support to VIPs
Good academic background and financial sector experience are a bonus
Responsibilities

Maintain all aspects of company infrastructure
Provide a high level of user support where necessary
Face off to VIPs and provide exceptional support
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues
Assist in planning, maintenance and upgrades for systems
